How to Actually Wash Your Socks Right

First things first—not all socks are created equal, and neither are the fabrics they’re made from. Each material has its own quirks, kind of like people.

🧵 Cotton

Ah, the classic. Cotton socks are breathable and comfy, but they’re also kind of high maintenance. They shrink easily, and if you don’t wash them right, they lose shape faster than you can say “laundry day.”

Care tip:

Wash in cold water, gentle cycle. Air dry to keep ‘em from shrinking.

🐑 Wool

Warm, soft, and perfect for winter. But wool is a diva—it hates heat, rough handling, and being tossed in with just anything.

Care tip:

Hand wash in cool water with a mild detergent. Lay flat to dry. Don’t even look at the dryer.

🧪 Polyester / Nylon

Durable and quick-drying, these are often used in sports socks and blended styles. But they can pill and trap odors if you’re not careful.

Care tip:

Machine wash on cool with a sports detergent. Flip inside-out first. Avoid fabric softeners.

🧶 Acrylic

You’ll find this synthetic fiber in athletic socks and compression styles. It’s pretty low-maintenance, which we love.

Care tip:

Machine washable, but use a gentle setting. Don’t over-dry—it can warp the fabric.

🌀 Spandex

This is what gives your socks that perfect stretchy fit. It’s usually blended in small amounts.

Care tip:

Avoid high heat (it kills the stretch). Wash cold, dry low or air dry.
